Hello, everyone! I’m Thor and I’m from England I’m 31 and I work in IT and I’m a recovering fatty and in case you couldn’t tell from my pictures I love tattoos!
At my largest I was over 350 lbs, my scales error-ed and I remember when I first started losing weight it was about a month before the scales showed anything other than an error. I have a very addictive nature when it comes to anything like for or pretty much anything at all. Up until nearly 9 years ago I smoked 80 cigarettes a day.
I decided to become a non-smoker and that’s what I did I’ve not smoked since. I seem to have a lot of willpower when I put my mind to something but it’s the journey of getting to the place when you want to actually do something about it.
For a period at my largest, I became a spiritual person and I guess you could say I had an epiphany and it made me want to do something about it and I have.
Initially, I struggled with failure, if I failed by overeating for the day instead of being like that sucks I would be like I’ve failed now so I might as well get a take away or eat some bad food and it was such a vicious circle and that was the hardest thing for me to break the habit of.
I no longer beat myself up but I learn from it like why did I have to cheat? Like 6 weeks ago we put one of our cats down who wasn’t well and I had a cheat as I reverted back to food.
Yesterday we had another cat put to sleep however I stuck to my diet as I learned from the last time I did that. I’m not perfect I make mistakes as does everyone but I try and learn from it so I don’t repeat the same mistakes. I also don’t bury my head in the sand if I fail like I used to.
What was your lifestyle like prior to your transformation?
I’ll be honest I’m surprised I’m still alive. There was a period where I would go out partying and raving pretty much every weekend. If a new MMO or a game I wanted to play would come out I would spend weeks at a time on 2-3 hours sleep a night drinking 6 can of energy drink ordering take away food at lunch and dinner most days.
At weekends I’d have a takeaway on a Friday, Saturday I’d have a takeaway, Sunday I would go to the pub for breakfast and I’d have a massive full English breakfast with pancakes on the side. I’d have 3-6 bags of crisps a day, I would eat all the chocolate as soon as it came in the house and all this with little to no exercise I am amazing that I’m still alive.
Where does your motivation come from?
I’ll be honest my real name is Thor and I want to look like a real-life superhero so that is where my motivation has come from. Also, my best friend Lee who has also lost an incredible amount of weight and looks amazing now, it was because of him I realized that it was possible to lose the weight.
I don’t know it’s hard you see the before and afters on TV and on the internet and somehow you think they are faked or photoshopped but when I actually saw it in the flesh it made me realize I could do it too.
Also, I’ve been very public on my Facebook and Instagram about my weight loss it would be so embarrassing to become massive again because I would be the laughing stock, I mean not that I care too much about people’s negative opinions about me but it would still suck.
What does your daily diet look like?
It has changed a lot over the time I’ve done keto. At the moment, it looks something like this
- 100% Beef Quarter Pounder
- 120 g Mushrooms
- 2 rashers of smoked streaky bacon
- 18 g of Sweet gem lettuce
- 10 g of mature cheddar cheese
- 9 g of red onion
- Cooked in 4 g of Organic Ghee
- 140 g of Chopped Tomatoes in tomato juice
- 30 g of mature cheddar cheese
- 3 rashers of smoked streaky bacon
- 80 g of over roasted chicken,
- Homemade essence gravy with some gravy granules to thicken (not too many as super high in carbs like 2.5 g per 5 g of this stuff so only had 5 g)
- I had 100 g of Spinach
- I had 50 g of cause rice
For a mid-morning snack, I had 22 g of almonds and a BPC made with only 3 g of coconut oil.
For a mid-evening snack, I had a pack of pork rinds and a BPC made with only 3 g of coconut oil.
I had 45 ml of apple cider vinegar throughout the day, 15 ml mixed in water with each meal
On training days, I’ll have a pack of pork rinds 45 mins before training and a pre-workout which is MusclePharm Assault.
My supplements make up the rest of the calories, I use Animal Pak, Animal Omega, Animal PM, Animal Flex, Animal Nitro on training days and Animal Juiced Amino. I also take 1000 IU of Vitamin D and Opti Neuro Nootropic.
What workout routine has worked best for you?
So to start with I used StrongLifts 5×5 I did that for a while and then I took a break from everything. When I came back I moved on to KetoGains 5×5 which is amazing it’s pretty much SL5x5 but with 3 extra exercises that you do at the end and since doing that I’ve really noticed the difference in strength and muscle mass.
How has your life changed since the transformation?
I have an amazing and wonderful girlfriend who I met after I lost a load of weight so I guess I felt a bit more comfortable in my own skin and us meeting one another may not have happened. I’m getting stronger and stronger now and when I’m out and about I don’t hear people say things like “Jesus look at the size of him” which never bothered me I really was a giant amongst men.
I feel fit, I feel healthy and I feel very happy in life. It’s also nice to be able to go into most high street shops now and buy clothes, I’ve gone from a 54” waist down to a 36-38” waist.
Also, one of the best parts about it is connecting with people who are on the same journey, people who have just started or people who are near the end of their journey and the sense of community there is, I’m part of the ketogains Facebook group and they are all so helpful and friendly if I have questions, I honestly wouldn’t be where I am today without the help and support from people.
Any noticeable difference in the quality of your life?
I sleep better, I find I have more energy to do things and I’m not always lethargic, doing simple day to day things doesn’t get me out of breath it’s much better…
“I always said, Sarah, do good 80 percent of the time and you will get there. I didn’t want to hold myself to perfection because it felt like a failure when I couldn’t. 80 percent seemed realistic” – Sarah
“You didn’t get fat overnight, you’re not going to get thin overnight.”
“You will fail, it’s about picking yourself up, dusting yourself off and getting back on it.”
Honestly it’s never too late to start, you’re not too big to start. The quicker you start the sooner you will have a healthier and happier life. I wish you all the best on all your journeys in making the best you that you can be and the healthiest you that you can be.
